Affiliate disclosure

Marked with a star (★) wherever they appear. Here's exactly what that means and how I decide what's worth recommending.

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click through and buy something, I may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is the same either way.

What that actually means

When a retailer or service pays affiliate commissions, they give people like me a unique tracking link. If you use it and go on to buy something, they pay me a small percentage as a thank-you for the referral. It costs you nothing extra. It just means the sale gets credited to me instead of showing up as a random visitor.

Where you'll see them

Currently that includes the book recommendations linked from the running articles, and TopCashback, which has its own dedicated article explaining exactly how I use it and what I've earned from it over the years. As the site grows I may add others, such as supplements, kit, services I genuinely use, and every one will be clearly marked.

How I decide what to link

I only link to things I've personally used, bought, or genuinely rate. I don't accept payment to write about something I haven't tried, and I don't let the existence of a commission change what I'd honestly tell you. If something stops being good, I stop recommending it, commission or not.

Why bother with affiliate links at all

Running a website costs money and time, and affiliate income is one honest way of covering that without cluttering the place with adverts or putting anything behind a paywall. It's a small thank-you from companies whose products I'd be recommending anyway.

Questions

If you're ever unsure whether a specific link is an affiliate one, ask me and I'll tell you straight.
